Obligatory bicycle shot in Shelburne Falls
I took one last time, further down the road.
Shelburne Falls bridges
The iron auto bridge is in the foreground; behind it, the former railroad bridge (now the Bridge of Flowers).
At the Vermont border
Halifax is the first town in Vermont on Route 112 north of the Massachusetts border. Interestingly (for a midwesterner), many of the state highways keep the same number when they cross the border. I wonder why.
Poverty Pocket Sugar House
They didn't mince words in the old days!
Bicycle wheel fence
A fence made of old wheels, in a yard that was full of folk sculpture.
A 19th-century post on Route 112 marking the border between Massachusetts and Vermont
Bissell Covered Bridge
This covered bridge reopened recently after being renovated.
"Big Indian" tourist trap
Massachusetts Route 2 west of Greenfield is known as the "Mohawk Trail." This is one of the Indian-themed souvenir shops along the route.
