Schell Bridge
This bridge, dating from 1903, has been closed since 1987. To prevent access, steel plates were welded across the entrances. We cycled down to the entry hoping to get a good view, but unfortunately there was no good prospect. We got one the next day from the other side of the river.
Connecticut River at Turner's Falls

A Vermont farm scene
Shortly after chugging some chocolate milk acquired at a convenience store with a teenaged clerk who seemed to have taken a vow of silence--or sullenness....
Underground Beer Line
Would that it were true!
North (Hunt) Vernon Cemetery
We stopped at this cemetery about 8 miles south of Brattleboro. The old slate tombstones with the semicircle on top are usually the most interesting.
Rebecca Cunnable's tombstone

Welcome to New Hampshire!
The third state in our 2-day tour. We didn't stop at the "Welcome to Vermont" sign--a clear oversight!
The hon. John Bridgman's tombstone
Jonathan Tute's rhyming epitaph
Latchis Theater
License plate siding
The people who own this barn/shed were happy to let us take a couple pictures.
Brattleboro farmer's market
Jennifer was inside the co-op getting some apples for sustenance.
Brattleboro footbridge
Another shot, this time with the photographer's bike in the frame.
French King Bridge
There was a really nasty hill after this picturesque spot....
East Mineral Road Cemetery
We finally got to see the bridge, a day after being stopped at the steel barrier at the western end.
