Monument to Bossuet, Meaux Cathedral
Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet was bishop of Meaux from 1681 to his death in 1704. He was one of the great thinkers and writers of the age of Louix XIV, a staunch defender of royal power and the Catholic church. I don't like him much. His sixteenth-century predecessor as bishop of Meaux, Guillaume Briçonnet, is more to my taste.
